What a crest of a wave South Africa is riding at this time. After hosting a successful soccer world cup Louis Oosthuizen a 27 year old South African wins the British Open Golf Championship. Today, July 18 th is not only former President Nelson Mandelas 92 nd birthday it is also the Inaugural International Nelson Mandela day. His win is a birthday gift to President Mandela. OOsthuizen is 27 and Mandela spent 27 years in prison. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison for his belief that all people are equal and at best should co-exist in a non-racial society. Nelson Mandela or Madiba as he is lovingly known in South Africa was the first democratically elected president of South Africa. He was voted into power on April 27 1994 and was inaugurated as president on May 10 th 1994. April 27 was also the day when people of color could vote for the first time in their lives. Current president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma likened Madiba with Moses in the Bible who led the Jews out of bondage in Egypt. He said that Madiba led South Africans of color out of the bondage of apartheid.

Well South Africa is not doing so well in rugby at this time. Everyone in South Africa is so excited and so exuberant and focused on keeping the country on this positive trajectory. Current reduction in crime is heartening to say the least. South Africa cannot afford to fall back on their record. History is not on the side of South Africa but the future is. Every South African needs to dig deep and rediscover that each one is their brother and sisters keeper. They should help each other rebuild their lives. Those who have can share with the one who does not have and in such a way maintain a positive spirit. Even South Africans have been hit by the economic meltdown and yet it gives every South African an opportunity to be the difference in the lives of others.

Visitors to South Africa were blown away by the beauty of the country and the hospitality and friendliness of South Africans. South Africas president Jacob Zuma should be acknowledged as a great leader. He has proven for me that you cannot hold his indiscretions against him. In fact he does not need our forgiveness for his past misdemeanors because we have not been appointed God. Jacob Zuma like anybody else has his weaknesses and his strengths. So he has many wives and he has many children with different wives; the fact is that if we were willing to suspend our moral judgment we would be able to see leadership. I have not been a Zuma fan at all. Hey, but even I tip my hat to Mr. Soccer 2010, President JZ because he has done nothing wrong since he has become the president of South Africa. You have to admit that the adage, " cometh the hour cometh the man " was personified in him. He rose to every challenge and he was successful.

He has called for national prayer and thanksgiving to God for the success of world cup 2010. Very few people know that he had a prayer meeting for the success of world cup 20 10 on May 11 . Sto the bigotry, please and let JZ govern the country. He is not just talking he is doing something; he is the difference for most South Africans. President Zuma, a man with no or every little formal education is doing much better than university educated people. He is not Sussex educated and he is not Harvard educated but who will dare say that he is not doing a great job in governing South Africa. I finally tip my hat to his leadership. Viva!
