Who will win super bowl 44? Many people favor the Colts simply because they are the celebrity team who has played in the super bowl before and have been victorious once. The saints have never been to the Super Bowl. Fortunately, only the total meshing of all the forces and factors will give us a winner on the day and not before. The super bowl is won at the super bowl on super bowl Sunday. We can make all the predictions we want to, we can cite history and analyze form reports but we cannot guarantee a winning team; we can only predict a winning team.
So many things have to be changed in South Florida in order to host this game. Haitians had to be moved to make space for emergency rooms to deal with expected crowd. Traffic has to be rerouted. Vendors have to procure enough services and supplies to deal with this expanding crowd.
Super Bowl Sunday should become the American Family Day (AFD). It should be celebrated as a national family day. Families do get together on this day to enjoy a meal and snacks together as they watch the super bowl. Many families do have Super Bowl Sunday traditions. Why not name it and celebrate it as the all embracing day when we transcend differences, boundaries and prohibitions. Just enjoy the game as a family. Enter into a dialogue with your family about family values and family virtues. Talk about American values. Talk about America's position in the world. Talk about how we are promoting world peace. Talk about how we are going to preserve our water supply. Talk about how we are going to feed the hungry.
Do not just get caught up in the super bowl frenzy. Yes, you can idolize your favorite stars. Yes you can enmesh yourself in the thrills and macho-ness of these human sports gods and celebrity icons. Wow, they are big, bigger than the stars of last year's super bowl. Sport is healthy, sport is competitive and sport is addictive. Do not forget to support the Souper Bowl efforts around you.
